H.E. Mr Claude Cottalorda and diplomats from the Embassy visited the Institute of Human Palaeontology (IPH) in Paris on 27 May. In his role as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Principality of Monaco to France, H.E. Mr Cottalorda chairs the Institute’s Board.

The Institute of Human Palaeontology is a French scientific foundation, established in 1910 by Prince Albert I. It is managed by a Franco-Monegasque Board comprising an equal number of members from each country. The Institute’s scientific direction is set by a Science Committee which includes leading figures from France and abroad. Its aim is to make scientific progress on all issues relating to the study of human fossils.

During the visit, the Ambassador had a meeting with the Institute’s Director, Professor Henry De Lumley, who introduced him to the Institute’s researchers and the work it carries out. The visitors were also able to admire the numerous collections held by the Institute.
