Commending the commitment of foreign representatives and reaffirming the importance of dialogue and cooperation, she expressed the hope that “the year ahead will be rich in projects, exchanges and fruitful collaborations.”The year 2025 was marked by a significant strengthening of the Principality’s international presence. Monaco now maintains diplomatic relations with 165 countries, following the signing of joint communiqués with Micronesia, Singapore and Trinidad and Tobago.Nearly thirty Ambassadors were accredited by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, while Monegasque diplomacy reached a new milestone with the appointment of its first Ambassador to the Gulf, accredited to the United Arab Emirates. The Principality also stood out at the World Expo in Osaka, where its pavilion, “Take Care of Wonder,” welcomed nearly 1.5 million visitors. Another highlight was the Blue Economy and Finance Forum held in Monaco, which brought together 1,800 participants and led to the mobilisation of €8.7 billion in financial commitments in support of the blue economy.Looking ahead to 2026, Ms Berro-Amadeï announced a year that would be “dense and strategic”, with Monaco assuming the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from May to November—for the first time since its accession in 2004. This Presidency will focus on priority themes such as the protection of children’s rights, combating violence against women, and the fight against organised crime. “This historic presidency will provide the Principality of Monaco with significant international visibility,” she stated, underscoring the full engagement of Government teams to ensure its success.Against the backdrop of global crises, the Minister recalled that Monaco “remains firmly committed to upholding the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations” and continues to pursue a policy of cooperation that is “depoliticised and firmly rooted in humanitarian principles.” Public Aid for Development reached €74 million over the 2022–2024 period and will be further strengthened for 2025–2027, with a view to continuing to improve the lives of the most vulnerable populations.Ms Berro-Amadeï concluded by expressing the hope that 2026 would be placed “under the banner of trust, dialogue and solidarity.”

International cooperation: representatives from Mauritania’s Civil Security Service visit the Principality

The challenges posed by building fires were among the key subjects tackled during the visit.Major General Abou El Maaly El Hady Sidi Ould Amar, General Delegate for Civil Security and Crisis Management, also met with the Monegasque Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, and the Minister of Interior, Mr Lionel Beffre, to discuss future joint initiatives.Monaco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has been supporting the Mauritanian Civil Security Service’s civil protection and emergency relief work for over twenty-five years. The partnership benefits from the expertise of Colonel Varo, Commander of Monaco’s Military Force, technical support from the Monaco Fire and Emergency Service led by Lieutenant-Colonel Yvrard, and the active involvement of Monaco’s Consul in Mauritania, Mr Aly Gueladio Kamara.Among other things, the collaboration between the two countries has helped deliver three new fire and rescue stations in Nouakchott, doubling coverage of the capital city, along with the creation of a sea rescue brigade to monitor the beaches.A team of fourteen local trainers has also been set up, allowing Mauritania to train new recruits, while the country’s disaster response system has been bolstered with additional equipment and resources.  La Sécurité civile mauritanienne en visite en Principauté © Manuel Vitali - Direction de la Communication
