Relations with France
The Principality of Monaco and the French Republic have maintained diplomatic relations since 29 April 1873, the date on which H.E. the Marquis de Maussabré Beufvier was appointed by Sovereign Ordinance as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince to the French Republic.
He was succeeded by H.E. Mr Louis Fernand de Bonnefoy Baron du Charmel, who was appointed by Sovereign Ordinance of 1 October 1889. On 5 October of the same year, a legation was opened in Paris.

- H.E. Pierre Louis Falaize appointed by Sovereign Ordinance no. 4391 of 8 January 1970
- H.E. Pierre Chaubard appointed by Sovereign Ordinance no. 5555 of 25 March 1975

The legation was elevated to the rank of embassy by Sovereign Ordinance of 24 May 1977
