A delegation from the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in France (GAFF) visited Ardèche from 24 to 26 September, for a working visit to discuss the topic “Structuring a region around tourism”.

The trip was initiated by Mr Pascal Terrasse, French National Assembly Deputy for Ardèche, in his role as Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the International Organisation of La Francophonie. It gave the group’s members an opportunity to discover the region and its magnificent sites, including the Pont d’Arc natural bridge, the replica Chauvet Cave, the Ardèche grottoes and the village of Labeaume with its hanging gardens and dolmens. A round table and discussion sessions were organised with representatives of the region, including: Mr Pascal Terrasse and Ms Sabine Buis, National Assembly Deputies for Ardèche, Ms Monique Lecotard, Deputy Prefect of Ardèche, Mr Hervé Saulignac, President of the Département of Ardèche, and Mr Pierre Peschier, Mayor of Vallon Pont d'Arc. These meetings gave GAFF members an overview of the region’s archaeological wealth, as well as the tourism and cultural challenges it faces.
